About Course
The name Hachijo refers to the small island of Hachijō and its even smaller neighbour Hachijō-kojoma, situated 290km south of Tokyo. The Hachijō people’s style of playing the taiko side-on (yokouchi) is unique and has a long and fascinating history.
In this series of ten lessons, Ryuji Hamada introduces the beginner to the basics of the Hachijō style. Stance, grip, basic stroke-making, and a short practice piece (renshū) are covered in detail in this introduction. By covering these elements, the keen player will be well set in the basics of Hachijō style.

Student Ratings & Reviews
The filming of these hachijo videos is poor.it does not show complete image of Ryuji standing, cant see his feet or lower body, so miss out on seeing full stance to ground and also when showing strokes, the movement of arms from a long shot image is needed...
