Description
The Shimedaiko is central to many taiko ensembles. It is an extremely versatile instrument that can be used as both solo voice and accompaniment. It can also be played as a single instrument in a variety of seated positions, as well as on a stand in standing position. Furthermore, the Shimedaiko can be added to other taiko instruments to make up a Taiko Set.
In this series of nine lessons, Sophie Unsen covers grips, stances and strokes, followed by exercises in utilising the rebound of the skin, exploring three different ji-uchi, and playing accented patterns.
